Web ISOMUPM-ISOM is a multi-departmental research institute devoted to research and education in nanotechnology. ISOM has around 45 researchers in two research groups, the largest is GDS-ISOM which develops optoelectronic devices for communications, HEMTs for high power and high temperature applications, MEMS and SAW filters and graphene for energy, sensors and biomedicine. The GDS-ISOM Graphene team  is devoted to the research and innovation using graphene-related materials, involved in many research projects including:

– Advanced Semiconductor Devices for a Rational Use of Energy;
– Graphene-based Storage Systems for Electric Vehicle;
– Graphene for energy generation and storage;
– Dynamic electromechanical control of semiconductor nanostructures by acoustic fields, SAWTrain;
– Automatic Transfer of 2D Materials to Flexible Substrates and Benchmarking as Chemical Sensors;
– Graphene-macrophage biomaterials: functional characterization for the use in cardiovascular pathologies;


  • Clean Room Class 100-1000 for material growth and device fabrication;
  • Plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) system for 2D and 3D graphene deposition;
  • Laser-reduced graphene oxide production for sensors, graphene interdigitated transducers (IDTs) and interconnects;
  • Automatic transfer of 2D sheets for production of sensors, membranes, interconnects, etc.;
  • Glove box and potentiostat-galvanostats with Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) for electrodeposition and production of sensors, interconnects, etc.;
  • Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) for haracterization of graphene;
  • X-ray Diffraction (XRD) for material structural characterization Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) for morphological characterization;
  • Nomarsky microscopy and Raman microspopy for optcal structural characterization;
  • UV-Visible spectroscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) for characterization of graphene;
